Treatment overview
Fotona laser targets the darker pigment in your hair follicle, which absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat is what prevents hair growth in the follicle. With ongoing treatments, the follicle itself becomes unable to grow more hair.

What to expect
Fotona laser hair removal is safe for all skin types.
Only hair that has pigment can be treated. Unfortunately, if you have blonde, grey or red hair, this will not respond to laser hair removal. This is because there is no dark pigment present in these hairs.
Those with thicker, darker hair have more pigment, meaning that the light from the laser will be more readily absorbed.

How do I prepare for my laser hair removal treatment?
Ensure to shave the treatment area 24 hours prior to your treatment.
Avoid waxing or plucking your hair before the treatment, as this will interfere with the treatment.
Avoid excessive exposure to the sun 2-4 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. Continue to avoid sun exposure to the treatment area during your course of laser hair removal and be sure to apply SPF when going outdoors.
Avoid using any fake tanning products 3-4 weeks prior to treatment.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
This will depend on the area being treated. Usually, most people see full results after 8 to 10 treatments, spaced one month apart.
How do I care for my skin after laser hair removal?
It is recommended to avoid sun exposure to the treatment area and to apply SPF. For the first 3 days after the treatment, it is also recommended that only mineral makeup is applied to the treated area. Avoid excessive physical activity, spas, saunas and hot showers for about 48 hours post treatment.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
The success of hair reduction treatments depends largely on a patient’s skin and hair type, as well as the skills and treatment insight of the practitioner. Most people see a significant reduction in unwanted hair. Any future hair growth will usually be lighter and thinner. Other factors such as hair colour, hair fineness and hormonal changes (due to pregnancy, menopause etc) can all influence your results.
